June 2023 White Wine of the Month
Viognier is a traditional and powerful white grape grown in Languedoc-Roussillon and the Rhône Valley of France. Viognier is used in famous blends with both Marsanne and Roussanne, and it is grown in other countries like Australia and the United States. In the United States, California is home to the production of gorgeous Viognier wines with the classic perfumed character that they exhibit in the French cradle, but they take on more of a tropical dimension. Our 2022 Viognier was produced with grapes grown in the warm area of Ripon, California. We used 10% Chardonnay, which we fermented and aged in 10% French oak, leading to a silky and elegant wine with bold tropical flavors and a creamy texture.
Blend: 90% Viognier, 10% Chardonnay
Grower/Vineyard: Ripon, CA
