Recipe by Lynfred Brand Ambassador Laura Lorenz
Ingredients
1 (14oz) pkg kielbasa*
1 (8oz) tube crescent rolls
1 egg, whisked
2 tbsp honey mustard
Everything bagel seasoning*
Flour, as needed
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. On a lightly floured work surface, unroll the crescent dough rolls. Divide into 4 rectangles, pressing the seams together in each rectangle. Brush the rectangles with the honey mustard and lightly sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning. Next, cut the kielbasa into 4 even pieces. Place a sausage piece on each crescent rectangle, and roll the dough to fully cover the sausage. Brush the top of the dough with the egg wash and sprinkle with more everything bagel seasoning. Next, cut into 4-5 (1 in) pieces and place on the baking sheet a few inches apart.
Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
Easy Cheese Sauce
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
1 c half and half*
1 c sharp cheddar cheese (freshly grated)
¼ tsp smoked sweet paprika
Salt to taste
½ tbsp whole-grain mustard
Cheese Sauce Directions
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Then sprinkle the flour on top while whisking. Cook the butter and flour for roughly 30 seconds and then slowly drizzle in the half and half while whisking continuously. Then whisk in the smoked paprika. Turn the heat to medium and whisk until slightly thickened; about 1-2 minutes. Then turn the heat off and whisk in the cheese and mustard. Salt to taste. Serve immediately.
Tips
*Regular or turkey kielbasa both work great in this recipe.
*If everything bagel seasoning isn’t your thing, substitute poppy seeds.
*If your cheese sauce seems a little thick, whisk in a little more half and half.
*Want a little extra zip to your cheese sauce…add in some creamy prepared horseradish.
