Petite Sirah is the American name for the French Durif grape. Durif takes its name from Dr. François Durif, who, in the 1860s, created a new grape variety by crossing Syrah with a grape called Peloursin. Petite Sirah is one of the biggest, most powerful, and tannic wines produced in America; especially growing in California. Our Lynfred Petite Sirah Reserve 2014 was made with grapes grown in Clarksburg, California. To soften its powerful tannins, the wine was aged in American oak barrels for an extended period.
